FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 23, 2008
Christmas Promotion Features Artists
Playing off the “12 Days of Christmas,” The JOY FM’s Morning Cruise gave a dozen listeners not prizes but experiences with the air personalities and favorite artists.
(WJIS, Sarasota – Serving Central & Southwest Florida) – There were no partridges, pear trees or lords a-leaping, but The Morning Cruise managed to create unique, relationship-based experiences for each of the 12 days of Christmas. The Morning Cruise, heard on The JOY FM in Florida, asked listeners to pick their top three of a dozen experiences featuring artists in an online registration. Then, each day between December 8 and December 23, they chose one submission, told the reason that person chose a particular prize, and called the winner. The first of the dozen prizes, Frappuccino with Francesca Battistelli, was fulfilled December 22 with the artist, morning show personalities Dave, Bill and Carmen, and winner Michele Meier of Gainesville. Casting Crown’s Mark Hall called in this morning to sing a personal Casting Crowns Carol to Gina Brackman, an entry submitted by her husband as a Christmas present. Subsequent experiences are scheduled for 2009 and include Bowling with Big Daddy Weave, Dinner with Mark Schultz, Busch Gardens with Britt Nicole, a custom song from Matthew West, and an evening with Chris Tomlin.

September 10, 2008, Minneapolis, MN – 98.5 KTIS hosted sixstepsrecords artist Chris Tomlin at an event designed exclusively for local worship leaders at Club 3 Degrees in Minneapolis. “Worship leaders work tirelessly to engage their churches in worship and they make such a big difference so we simply wanted to thank them for what they do,” said Jason Sharp, KTIS Program Director. “It was nice for them to take off their worship leader ‘hats’ for awhile and be ministered to. It was a great night!” In addition to the free concert, each leader received the Worship Leader edition of Chris’ new project, Hello Love and each worship leader had their picture taken with Chris. In a text message sent after the show, EMI/CMG’s Josh Lauritch said, “Blown away! Everyone was thrilled with the event.”

(WJIS – Serving Central & Southwest Florida) – Sixsteps recording artist Chris Tomlin celebrated the release of his fifth studio album, Hello Love, with the staff and listeners of The JOY FM. An invitation-only release party was held atop an ocean side hotel on Lido Beach in Sarasota, where Tomlin performed several songs from Hello Love. Earlier, Tomlin joined The Morning Cruise, where he was pleasantly surprised with a live phone call from his father, Connie, who asked if show hosts Dave, Bill and Carmen were “taking care of my baby boy” and shared memories of Chris performing as a ten year old. (The call can be heard at http://www.thejoyfm.com/article.asp?id=871760&SPID=19049.) After the show, Tomlin, reigning three-time Gospel Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year, presented The JOY FM General Manager Jeff MacFarlane with a commemorative Platinum/Gold record for his 2004 release, Arriving and 2006’s See the Morning.
